Bugatti Divo

Bugatti Divo

The Bugatti Divo is one of the most exclusive and distinctive modern hypercars ever produced. Developed by Bugatti as a more agile, handling-focused counterpart to the Chiron, the Divo combines extraordinary performance with a dramatic aerodynamic design and an extremely limited production run.

Named after French racing driver Albert Divo, who won the Targa Florio for Bugatti in 1928 and 1929, the Divo represents a modern interpretation of Bugatti’s long-standing connection with motorsport and high-performance engineering.

Bugatti Divo History

The Bugatti Divo was unveiled in 2018 at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in California. Rather than being designed simply as a faster version of the Chiron, the Divo was engineered with an emphasis on cornering ability, aerodynamic performance and driving dynamics.

Bugatti announced that production would be limited to just 40 examples, making the Divo exceptionally rare even within the exclusive world of modern Bugatti automobiles. Every example was allocated to customers before production began.

The car takes its name from Albert Divo, a celebrated French racing driver who competed for Bugatti during the marque’s successful racing era of the 1920s.

Design and Aerodynamics

The Divo has a noticeably different appearance from the standard Chiron. Its bodywork features a more aggressive front end, larger air intakes, redesigned headlights and extensive aerodynamic detailing.

One of the most recognizable features is the complex rear section, which incorporates a large rear wing and carefully shaped bodywork designed to generate additional aerodynamic performance. The Divo also features a distinctive rear light arrangement that gives the car a unique appearance.

Lightweight materials are used throughout the vehicle, while numerous aerodynamic modifications help increase downforce and improve stability at high speeds.

Performance

At the heart of the Bugatti Divo is an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine. The engine produces approximately 1,500 horsepower, giving the Divo the enormous performance expected from a Bugatti hypercar.

Power is transmitted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Bugatti’s sophisticated all-wheel-drive system.

Although its top speed was electronically limited to approximately 380 km/h, the Divo was developed with acceleration, braking and cornering performance in mind rather than simply achieving the highest possible top speed.

Bugatti engineers reduced the car’s weight compared with the Chiron and increased aerodynamic downforce. The result is a hypercar designed to feel more responsive and agile on demanding roads and circuits.

Bugatti Divo and the Chiron

The Divo shares its fundamental mechanical architecture with the Chiron, but the two cars have different personalities.

The Chiron was created as an exceptional high-speed grand touring hypercar, whereas the Divo places greater emphasis on handling and aerodynamic performance. Bugatti made extensive changes to the suspension, steering, aerodynamics and bodywork to create a more dynamic driving experience.

The Divo also has a lower production number than the Chiron, contributing to its status as a highly collectible Bugatti.

Interior

Inside, the Divo combines luxury with a distinctly sporting atmosphere. High-quality materials, carefully finished surfaces and extensive customization allow owners to create highly individual interiors.

The cabin retains the sophisticated character expected from a Bugatti while incorporating sportier details appropriate to the Divo’s performance-oriented design.

Bugatti Divo Collectability

With only 40 examples produced, the Divo is among the rarest modern Bugatti road cars. Its limited production, distinctive design and connection to the Chiron make it particularly interesting to collectors.

Unlike a conventional production sports car, the Divo was effectively created as an exclusive limited-series hypercar. Each vehicle represents a combination of advanced engineering, bespoke craftsmanship and extreme performance.

For collectors of exotic automobiles and diecast model cars, the Divo is also an attractive subject. Its dramatic shape, unusual aerodynamic components and recognizable Bugatti styling make it particularly appealing in miniature form.

Bugatti Divo Diecast Model Cars

The Bugatti Divo has become an important addition to the collections of enthusiasts interested in modern hypercar replicas. Diecast models are available in various scales and finishes, allowing collectors to display a miniature version of one of Bugatti’s most exclusive creations.

Popular scales for collectors include 1:18, 1:24 and 1:43, although availability varies between manufacturers. Larger-scale models can reproduce details such as the Divo’s aerodynamic bodywork, wheels, interior and distinctive rear wing in greater detail.

Manufacturers of high-quality model cars have also produced Bugatti replicas in different colors and specifications, making the Divo an interesting addition to a collection of modern hypercars.

A Modern Bugatti Icon

The Bugatti Divo demonstrates how a manufacturer can take an already extraordinary hypercar platform and create something with a substantially different character. Its combination of a quad-turbocharged W16 engine, sophisticated aerodynamics, limited production and distinctive styling has established the Divo as one of the most recognizable Bugatti models of the modern era.

For enthusiasts, the Divo is significant not only because of its performance but also because of its rarity and its connection to Bugatti’s historic racing heritage. Whether encountered as a full-size hypercar or as a highly detailed diecast model, the Divo represents an exceptional chapter in the continuing history of Bugatti.
