Interestingly, Elvis first owned a 1954 Cadillac that had already been painted pink, but it was destroyed in a roadside fire. To replace it, he purchased a new 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Special, originally finished in blue with a black roof. He soon had it repainted in a custom pink shade known as “Elvis Rose,” while initially retaining the contrasting roof. Although Elvis presented the car to his mother, Gladys Presley, she never obtained a driver’s license, so Elvis himself drove the Fleetwood extensively while touring with the Blue Moon Boys.
