Breaking World Records at Nardò
The concept earned its name from the famous Nardò Ring proving ground in southern Italy.
Rather than simply displaying the car at motor shows, Volkswagen put it through one of the toughest endurance tests imaginable.
In February 2002, the W12 completed a 24-hour continuous high-speed run, covering:
- 7,740.576 kilometres
- Average speed of 322.9 km/h (200.6 mph)

Why It Never Reached Production
Despite its success, Volkswagen ultimately decided not to build the Nardò.
